Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France was in flames Monday night.

Firefighters grappled to regulate the blaze as the primary spire collapsed and smoke billowed from the constructing.

The church was constructed within the 12th and 13th centuries, and tens of millions of individuals got here to the guts of Paris to go to yearly.

Stained Glass

Gargoyles

Catholic Church relics

Many relics or objects that maintain nice significance within the Catholic Church had been housed in Notre Dame.

Among the many relics are the Crown of Thorns, which Jesus purportedly wore earlier than being crucified, and a chunk of the True Cross, which is claimed to be a chunk of the cross Jesus was crucified upon, the Catholic Herald confirmed on Twitter.
